  • Start a New Tradition This Christmas Season

Start a New Tradition This Christmas Season

For the Christmas season, we are offering many opportunities for you and your family to start new traditions. On Friday December 4 at 5:30pm and Saturday December 5 at 1pm and 4pm, we will have gingerbread houses to decorate, and we will supply the candy and icing, so you can make the house of your dreams. You can reserve your house by calling us at 936-756-1745. This is a great way to spend family time doing a fun activity that everyone can enjoy! We will also have a time when you and your family  can come and decorate gingerbread men. This session will be on Saturday, December 12 from 10am to 3pm. We all love special traditions that we always remember even as adults. These family traditions make every holiday season so special, and often times it is difficult to start a 912tradition that everyone in the family enjoys and looks forward to every year. Having a fun afternoon or evening of decorating is the perfect activity for the child who loves to taste the icing as you put it on the house, for the child who is meticulous and loves decorating, or for the child who loves Christmas s814o much that any holiday activity will make their day. Every year, our family decorates a gingerbread house to put in our living room to add to our Christmas decorations. The family time that we spend decorating the house and finding the perfect spot for it every year is a valuable memory for all of us. Each person plays a role as we decorate our house. Heather and Elise Schenk are perfect for decorating the house with their artistic abilities, while Tim and Kaitlynn Schenk are perfect for eating the candy and icing as they decorate, and Ethan and Jason Schenk love spending the time decorating the house because it is a fun tradition that gets them in the mood for Christmas. The memories that each of us have from these experiences are ones that we will never forget, and ones that we look back on throughout the rest of the year just waiting for it to be that time of year again. We want you to have these fun family Christmas traditions as well. There is nothing greater in this world than having the opportunity to spend times like these with your children before they are all grown up and have families of their own.

This jack-o-lantern cake always made us excited for our trick-or-treating experience, and it always put us in the mood to dress up in a crazy costume for everyone to see. These family memories are irreplaceable, and we want you and your family to have similar memories- memories that you can look back on in ten years, to remind you of how HPIM2513little your kids really were, and how much they loved trick-or-treating and always eating a Halloween themed dessert. We want to wish you a happy Halloween, and we hope that we can help make it the best one yet!

  • Get Your Fall Fix with Pumpkin Desserts

Get Your Fall Fix with Pumpkin Desserts

pumpkin cheesecake2With Halloween being just two weeks away and with the fall weather and fall festivities quickly approaching, it is no surprise that this Wednesday, October 21, is National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day. Our pumpkin cheesecake recipe dates all the way back to Tim Schenk’s Pop-Pop, John Schenk. He made this delicious pumpkin cheesecake at his bakery in Germantown, Pennsylvania. When Tim’s dad, Ken Schenk, took over the bakery, he continued to make these yummy pumpkin cheesecakes. Tim has now continued that tradition and makes the pumpkin cheesecakes every year around the fall time. Be sure to stop by to not only get your pumpkin cheesecake to celebrate, but also get our other delicious pumpkin items. Although sometimes pumpkin items can be over done around this time of the year, you can never go wrong with too many pumpkin desserts. We will also have our pumpkin pies, pumpkin rolls, and our pumpkin spice, pumpkin cream cheese, and pumpkin chocolate chip sweetbreads and muffins. You can celebrate on Wednesday and the rest of the week with pumpkin cheesecake and other treats that are all baked from scratch with fresh ingredients. We have included a Pumpkin Fritter recipe from historic Williamsburg, Virginia that is a family favorite around fall time.

  • Fall Treats Are Here

    Fall Treats Are Here

It is finally October, and with the weather getting a little cooler, we have brought out all of our delicious fall treats. We have all kinds of seasonal sweet breads, muffins, pastries, pies, and cakes. It is always a family tradition of ours to eat our delicious Apple Dumplings on the first day of fall every year. An Apple Dumpling is a peeled and cored apple with cinnamon and sugar in the middle wrapped with pie dough. When we lived in Pennsylvania, it was also a family tradition to go to a local apple orchard to pick fresh apples and drink homemade apple cider at the beginning of fall each year. Although we cannot do this anymore, we still have apple cider shipped to us every year from the same apple orchard that we went to for years. These family traditions help us get in the mood for fall, and make the perfect combination of  tasty food with family IMG_8960fun!IMG_4587 Along with apple dumplings, we have pumpkin spice, pumpkin chocolate chip, and pumpkin cream cheese sweet breads and muffins. Our pumpkin roll, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin cheesecake are also back, and they are perfect desserts to bring to any seasonal party. Eating some apple and pumpkin desserts just might make this Texas fall seem a little cooler. A fall family recipe of ours is included below to make this season better than ever!
