Madi’s favorite thing about working at the bakery is getting to draw on the cakes and being around the Schenk family. Another one of our seniors is Kaitlynn, the daughter of the Schenk’s.

Kaitlynn working with her dad when we first opened the bakery Kaitlynn was ten years old when we opened the bakery, and has been working in the family business since then. Kaitlynn is attending Hillsdale College in the fall to major in economics. Kaitlynn’s favorite thing about working at the bakery is getting to talk to all of our wonderful customers. We are so proud of what each of these girls have accomplished, and we cannot wait to see what God has planned for their futures. Don’t Miss Out on a Mardi Gras Tradition
Mardi Gras season is here, and what better way to celebrate than with a Montgomery Bakehouse king cake? King Cakes have an intriguing history and taste delicious. Derived from the French tradition, the King Cake is eaten on the twelfth day of Christmas, which is January 6th to
celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany. The cake represents the story of the three wise men coming to see baby Jesus. The cake is decorated with icing and sugar on top. The sugars on top are green, purple, and yellow. Each color has a different meaning. The color green represents faith, purple represents justice, and yellow represents power. Each of these characteristics help remind us of the way the wise men travelled from afar to bring gifts to the newborn king. The plastic baby on top has a significant meaning as well. The baby is meant to represent baby Jesus. It is typically placed inside the cake, and whoever gets the baby is said to have to throw the Mardi Gras party next year and has to buy the king cake next year. Our king cakes come in a variety of flavors. We have cream cheese, cherry, cherry cream cheese, cinnamon butter, pecan
praline, Bavarian, and chocolate Bavarian. We will be selling King Cakes until Fat Tuesday, or the day before Ash Wednesday. It is best to call to place your order for your king cake to make sure to get the flavor you want, and you can do this by calling us at 936-756-1745, or coming in to place your order. Every year after moving to Texas, our family celebrates Mardi Gras by eating a king cake to start off the season, and by eating a king cake on Fat Tuesday, the last day of the season. Even if you aren’t French or Cajun, Mardi Gras gives you the perfect excuse to eat something delicious! -
