You can also stop by to get some desserts to pass out to the trick -or- treater at your door because treats from Montgomery Bakehouse are sure to be the talk of any neighborhood Halloween celebration. Also, in preparation for Halloween on Saturday, you can order specific Halloween treats to meet your needs, and we only need a day’s notice for your order. A family tradition of ours as Halloween approached each year was to have a jack-o-lantern shaped cake either before we went trick-or-treating, or as we were passing out treats to the ghosts and Disney princesses who showed up at our door. This jack-o-lantern cake always made us excited for our trick-or-treating experience, and it always put us in the mood to dress up in a crazy costume for everyone to see. These family memories are irreplaceable, and we want you and your family to have similar memories- memories that you can look back on in ten years, to remind you of how HPIM2513little your kids really were, and how much they loved trick-or-treating and always eating a Halloween themed dessert. We want to wish you a happy Halloween, and we hope that we can help make it the best one yet!

  • Get Your Fall Fix with Pumpkin Desserts

Get Your Fall Fix with Pumpkin Desserts

pumpkin cheesecake2With Halloween being just two weeks away and with the fall weather and fall festivities quickly approaching, it is no surprise that this Wednesday, October 21, is National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day. Our pumpkin cheesecake recipe dates all the way back to Tim Schenk’s Pop-Pop, John Schenk. He made this delicious pumpkin cheesecake at his bakery in Germantown, Pennsylvania. When Tim’s dad, Ken Schenk, took over the bakery, he continued to make these yummy pumpkin cheesecakes. Tim has now continued that tradition and makes the pumpkin cheesecakes every year around the fall time. Be sure to stop by to not only get your pumpkin cheesecake to celebrate, but also get our other delicious pumpkin items. Although sometimes pumpkin items can be over done around this time of the year, you can never go wrong with too many pumpkin desserts. We will also have our pumpkin pies, pumpkin rolls, and our pumpkin spice, pumpkin cream cheese, and pumpkin chocolate chip sweetbreads and muffins. You can celebrate on Wednesday and the rest of the week with pumpkin cheesecake and other treats that are all baked from scratch with fresh ingredients. We have included a Pumpkin Fritter recipe from historic Williamsburg, Virginia that is a family favorite around fall time.

  • Celebrate Columbus Day with Sweets

    Celebrate Columbus Day with Sweets

With Columbus Day coming up, what better way is there to spend your holiday weekend with Montgomery Bakehouse sweets? Whether you have off work or school, or not, some of our fall treats and other classic Bakehouse sweets will make the perfect weekend combination. Thanks to Columbus, we have this widely known “new world”. Although he was not the first to discover it, he becam38e the face of North America because of his brave trip here and because he made the attributes of North America so well known to the others living in Europe at the time. If it had not been for him, we may not be living in or have the same country that we live in today.  After everyone telling Columbus that there was no way that he could sail the other direction to reach the West Indies, it is so inspiring to see that Columbus never gave up on his dream, and in turn discovered what would become the greatest nation in the world. It is so amazing to  look back on our American heritage and truly see how God had such a big role in shaping our country in everything from Columbus happening to find North America to the founding fathers creating a government unlike any other government around during that time, and what would become the longest governing document. To find out more about America’s godly heritage, visit http://www.wallbuilders.com. This is a great organization that we as a family support, and we encourage others to research them and their mission. To celebrate all of America’s heritage, try our delicious George Washington Cake. This is a molasses cake with a pie crust bottom, and chocolate icing on top. Although it may not be named after Columbus, without Columbus, America may not have seen such a great man as George Washington. Come in today and on Columbus Day to try this delicious treat!

  • Fall Treats Are Here

    Fall Treats Are Here

It is finally October, and with the weather getting a little cooler, we have brought out all of our delicious fall treats. We have all kinds of seasonal sweet breads, muffins, pastries, pies, and cakes. It is always a family tradition of ours to eat our delicious Apple Dumplings on the first day of fall every year. An Apple Dumpling is a peeled and cored apple with cinnamon and sugar in the middle wrapped with pie dough. When we lived in Pennsylvania, it was also a family tradition to go to a local apple orchard to pick fresh apples and drink homemade apple cider at the beginning of fall each year. Although we cannot do this anymore, we still have apple cider shipped to us every year from the same apple orchard that we went to for years. These family traditions help us get in the mood for fall, and make the perfect combination of  tasty food with family IMG_8960fun!IMG_4587 Along with apple dumplings, we have pumpkin spice, pumpkin chocolate chip, and pumpkin cream cheese sweet breads and muffins. Our pumpkin roll, pumpkin pie, and pumpkin cheesecake are also back, and they are perfect desserts to bring to any seasonal party. Eating some apple and pumpkin desserts just might make this Texas fall seem a little cooler. A fall family recipe of ours is included below to make this season better than ever!
